Stabbing Suspect Allegedly Tells Bakersfield Police They’d Have to Kill Him

Bakersfield police report a stabbing suspect told officers they would have to kill him before he ‘d return to prison.

Authorities say Rodney Bagsbey, 43, made the declaration before driving his car into a guardrail during a chase with police following a stabbing incident at around 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of East 19th Street.

Officers say Bagsbey brandished a knife at them when they attempted to apprehend him at the scene of the stabbing, then allegedly led officers on a pursuit that ended at Panorama Park when he sped into the guardrail.

Bagsbey is listed in critical condition.  The stabbing victim suffered life-threatening injuries.
