The Kern County Fire Department has announced Fire Captain Bruce Wells has died from kidney cancer.

In a social media post over the weekend, BCFD reported Wells was with the department since 1994. Chief Aaron Duncan said Wells was a dedicated firefighter who mentored hundreds of others in the department.

Wells leaves behind a wife and three sons.
