Unemployment Continues Downward Slide

The number of Americans applying for unemployment benefits has once again dropped.
According to data from The Labor Department, 239 thousand people applied for benefits for the week ending August 12.
This total is a drop of 11 thousand from the previous week.
The four-week moving average, which changes weekly, is now at 234,250.
Meanwhile, 1.72 million Americans received unemployment benefits for the week ending August 12.
