Kern Supervisors Vote to Demolish Vacant Strip Mall

The Kern County Board of Supervisors has voted to demolish a northeast Bakersfield strip mall.

The county calls the strip mall located on Alta Vista Drive north of Columbus Street a public nuisance.

County staff recommended to supervisors the property owner pay for the costs of the demolition.

The owner initially wanted to save what’s left of the structure and rebuild it, but later changed his mind.
