County Fire Tip Line Receives 4,000 Calls Over July 4th Weekend

The Kern County Fire Department says their Illegal Fireworks Reporter line received 4,000 reports about illegal fireworks over the holiday weekend.

The line gives people the opportunity to report non-emergency incidents to the department without tying up 9-1-1.

The number of non-emergency 9-1-1 calls was down over the weekend to 1,879.

County Fire reports there were 77 fires, 18 of which were structure fires.
