Bakersfield Woman Gets 15 to Life For Killing Boyfriend

A Bakersfield woman who pleaded no contest to beating her boyfriend to death because he had abused her and her children has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

Elizabeth Guillen, 44, was arrested in 2020 in the death of Oscar Garcia and was charged with first-degree murder. She pleaded no contest last month to the lesser charge of second-degree murder.

Guillen admitted to killing Garcia at their home, telling investigators she waited until he fell asleep then beat him over the head with a stick she found in the back yard of the home.
